FOOTBALL COACHES ⚽️

I admire coaches…. They carry a huge responsibility and are key decision makers at clubs, both during matches and whilst training. They need to stay motivated and positive, so that this rubs off on the players. A coach needs to be able to prepare the team physically 🏋🏾‍♀️, mentally 🧠 and emotionally 🫶🏽. I see their positions as quite tough ones 😖. When the team does well, the players are praised, but when the team does poorly, the coach is criticised and/or sacked.

I won’t pretend to know everything a coach does, but I enjoy reading posts and learning from coaches like Temisan and Tor Thodesen. You can tell they love what they do as the passion bursts through their articles 😊.

I receive a lot of enquiries from coaches who have rich resumes, and are looking for new opportunities and representation, but I only work with players. I have only represented one coach in the past and it didn’t go well at all 🤦🏽‍♀️. I’m sure Denis remembers 😅. After that, I decided to stay focused on players 😇.

Basically, a coach based in Europe contacted me via a mutual friend. I explained that I didn’t represent coaches, however he had been informed that I had contacts in clubs he was interested in, so he kept “pestering” me. Eventually, I decided to help him out. I presented him to a couple of African clubs, and I managed to pique the interest of one of them. We negotiated the terms, the flight was booked and everything was set! 👏🏽

On the day he was meant to travel, he failed to show up at the airport 😏. I tried calling him because the club was piling pressure on me, but he wouldn’t take my calls.

Eventually, he called… (a few days later) stating that there was a family emergency which meant he was unable to travel. He confirmed he was still interested in the role and the club CEO confirmed they still had interest. We picked up where we left off..

Three weeks later, I received a call from the club confirming that they were ready to book his flight ✈️ and asked me to confirm that he had sorted out his “family emergency” and was definitely ready to travel before they purchased the ticket. I called him, and he confirmed he was ready to travel and a new date was agreed. The flight was booked and confirmed, and the booking details forwarded to him. The club informed the fans, and via a radio announcement asked them to meet the new coach at the airport on the agreed date, and welcome him “African style” 🥁🪘💃🏽.

You’ll never guess what??! He didn’t show up at the airport, and again wouldn’t pick up my calls 😭😭😭. No joke! The club CEO called, and was stressing (understandably) and even informed me that he was on double his blood pressure medication! 💊

End of story… 🎬..

This industry ain’t easy… 😅😂

PS – If anyone is looking for a new coach, please send me a message and I can send you some of the resumes I have received ✅
