Football Jerseys 👕😍
A football jersey is a shirt worn by members of a footie team to identify them as members of that team. A uniform basically…🤷🏽♀️. I hear the name comes from Jersey, a region of the British Isles where the jersey was first developed. Maybe James Brown, our US soccer historian can verify this for us 😁.
Did you know that there are strict regulations on football jerseys in association football? 🤔 – colours, patterns, colour combinations, numbers, player names, decorative elements, etc are all regulated, usually by the confederation. I’m not surprised really. You only need to look at the funky hairdos rocked by some of the players at the Africa Cup of Nations to visualise what their jerseys could look like if they were all allowed to do as they pleased 😅.

I don’t know about you but I luuurrrrvve football jerseys and I have a collection of them. I know some fans who are staunch supporters and wouldn’t think about wearing another team’s jersey, but to me I also see them as a fashion accessory 😁. Players I work with send me their jerseys on a regular basis and I’m proud to wear them. One of my favourites is my Juventus Football Club jersey 🤩, followed by my Nigeria 🇳🇬 National team WC2018 jersey, courtesy of Simy Nwankwo.
Anyway, I am currently in touch with a couple of creative individuals who set up an organisation and are designing unique football jerseys for clubs. They are interested in designing/partnering with some African teams 👏🏽. I have seen some of their designs and I’m quite impressed. So, if you own, or are affiliated, to an African club and would be interested in obtaining some more information, please drop me a private message. This could be an opportunity to have a beautiful jersey designed for your team and fan base 😉.
In the meantime, let me know in the comments section which team you think has the nicest jersey (and don’t just choose your team 😅). I quite like Manchester City Football Club’s cool light blue because it’s unique! I think red is overused on football jerseys.
